Professional Contests
Participation in professional competitions is an important area of the Company’s personnel policy, which ensures the continuous improvement of professional standards in the electric grid sector and motivates the Company’s employees to continuous professional self-improvement.
For six days, September 10–15, 2012, Astrakhan hosted the All-Russia Professional Competition of Electrical Insulation and Overvoltage Protection Crews of Distribution Grids, conducted on the base of the Yubileynaya 110/10-10-kV substation of Astrakhanenergo (a branch of IDGC of South) (the nationwide stage of the Best Professional All-Russian Professional Contest in the Best Electrician category).
As in the previous year, first place went to the team of Tyumenenergo, which won more-than-the-maximum number of points: 1,177 of 1,160. For the first time, IDGC of Centre took second place (1,154 points); while IDGC of Volga took third place (1,147 points).
For the first time in the history of professional competitions, the country’s best electrician was selected; he was the winner of the nationwide stage of the Best Professional All-Russian Professional Contest in the Best Electrician category, Alexander Lymar of the Tyumenenergo team. He is a fifth-category electrician of the Electrical Insulation and Overvoltage Protection Department, Nizhnevartovsk Electricity Networks, a branch of Tyumenenergo. He individually received 86 points. The winner received a certificate for 300,000 rubles, signed by Russian Minister of Labor and Social Protection Maxim Topilin and a Lada Granta car from the management of IDGC of South.
Second place in the Best Electrician category and a certificate for 200,000 rubles went to Yevgeny Chesnokov of the IDGC of Volga team, an electrician of the Electrical Insulation and Overvoltage Protection Department, Chapaevsk Production Unit, Samara Distribution Networks, a branch of IDGC of Volga. Third place and a certificate for 100,000 rubles went to Alexander Serezhnikov, a testing and measuring electrician of the Electrical Insulation and Overvoltage Protection Department, Astrakhanenergo, a branch of IDGC of South. The winner in the Best Engineer category was Maxim Makrushin, a crew foreman of Tyumenenergo, a second-category engineer of the Electrical Insulation and Overvoltage Protection Department, Nizhnevartovsk Electricity Networks, a branch of Tyumenenergo. A crew from Nizhnevartovsk Electricity Networks, a branch of Tyumenenergo, won in the Best Medical Aid Provider.
The competition program included six very difficult technical events for the participating teams, as well as an exhibition of electrical and special equipment. The guests of the contest could visit an exhibition of the latest products presented by 15 manufacturers of power equipment. Over several days the exhibition was visited by more than 10,000 people.
More than 400 people were trained in first aid in Russia’s only School of Bubnov, whose instructors conducted open classes and practical exercises at the Yubileynaya substation. A new extreme sport was presented to the guests of the contest: life wrestling. Enthusiasts of this sport and the first participants in life wrestling competitions were graduates of the Bubnov School.
In the mass media, the competitions received coverage from a joint media center, which published more than 250 materials on the official competition website, as well as more than 500 pictures and dozens of videos and presentations. For the first four days only, the official website was visited by more than 56,000 users. Thousands of people watched the event on television, read the latest news in newspapers and leading newswires. Information about the competition also aroused a lively discussion on social networks.
In December 2012, professional competitions among repair crews of the Company’s SDCs and branches of FGC UES’s transmission grids took place at Kubanenergo in Sochi. The participating teams completed all tasks at 109 substations in the Sochi power district. First place went to the teams of LENENERGO, MOESK, IDGC of Northern Caucasus, Volga MES (a branch of FGC UES, and IDGC of Center and Volga Region, which not only fulfilled all tasks at a high level but also did much work on asphalting and improvements on the premises of transformer substations. In addition, the teams of IDGC of South, LENENERGO, and IDGC of Center and Volga Region received letters of gratitude from the heads of the Sochi district administrations.
